In this section you can see my “warts ‘n all” archive of stories that I have (probably quite rightly!) dumped in a virtual dark drawer. Before you’re too harsh, remember that I am not posting them because I think they’re great, and it is likely to be some of my earliest writing and may not be edited! Indeed, my compulsion to edit things means that I haven’t even re-read these stories below when I posted them, just to ensure they are original. I will add more as I find stuff hidden in those draws…
This page is a ‘work in progress’ and I will add more text and links as soon as I can!

Sainsbury the Bear & the Plundering Pirates!
Sainsbury the bear pushed his supermarket trolley up and down the aisles and sighed. Being the school bear was great fun, going home at weekends with the children and having adventures, but waiting for Friday took too long. Slipping out of school to shop for sticky buns when the teachers had all gone home was as exciting as it got. ‘Oh, bother,’ he said, looking up at all the food on the shelves. ‘All I want is to have an adventure!’ Read the full story here!
Sainsbury the Bear, adventure two!
Sainsbury the bear hurried up the isles of his local supermarket, the wheels on his trolley spinning and twirling in the little bear’s haste. It had been a week since he had discovered the hidden isle that only makes itself visible to bears that happen to be looking for adventure and tonight, Sainsbury’s little furry feet could not go fast enough. He would be the first to admit that he was not the bravest of bears, but the excitement of his next adventure was almost overwhelming. Read the full story here!
Tom Tailor and the Scroll of Gramarye
The voice of Tom’s mother leapt through the bedroom door and rattled around his sleepy head. With a groan and a great deal of effort, Tom hoisted open one eye to the world. ‘Monday,’ he moaned to himself, ‘I hate Mondays.’ In fact, Tom hated Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays too because these were school days and Tom hated school. Not that this troubled him too much for it worked both ways – school, it seemed, hated him back! Read the first three chapters here!
Tom Tailor and the Sorcerer’s Doom
Not once in the long and murky history of The St Clandestine Orphanage for Lost Souls had anyone actually managed to leave of their own accord. Not so much as a cry for help had found its way over the high perimeter walls and out into the miles of barren scrubland beyond. However, the impenetrable nature of the old building did not stop the occasional escape attempt and tonight, as a particularly potent storm descended, would see another. Short Story: Seance
His mother was not the same since “the accident”. The six months that had passed since that dark day served only to carve ever more lines into her face and scars across her heart. Every time Jamie looked upon her, it seemed that she was fading ever further to grey – the grief embossed into her features, aged and cold like the weatherworn stone of the church where it ended. And yet it had not ended there, on that unseasonably cold day in June. Read the story here!
Short Story: Ghost Story
Colin Wimple came to a shuffling halt before the ominous-looking building where his company had its offices; the steam of his breath issued from his mouth and clawed its way up the gothic frontage of what used to be an asylum. He attempted to gather the nerve required to turn the door’s brass knob within which he could see his grotesquely distorted features looking back at him: an image of premature middle-ageing and shameful self pity.
